Description
DESCRIPTION:  Hospice care traditionally has centered around care
of the terminally ill patient at home.  There are times, however,
when the patient may require inpatient care.  Our inpatient unit
has been designed to provide the patient with a home like
environment with unlimited and unrestricted visiting hours, a
gathering room equipped with kitchenette for families to prepare
a special meal.  Families can spend the night with the patient.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  Volunteers are needed for companionship
for patients and their families.  Also for answering phones,
clerical work or to provide transportation.

TIME COMMITMENT:  Volunteers offer the care on an individualized
basis; Volunteers are asked to make a one year (academic year) 
commitment due to the intensive nature of the training program.
Volunteers must complete an Orientation Program, which is
offered in the Fall and Spring of each year.  Individual
orientation is offered as needed.
