DESCRIPTION:  For over 50 years, VAMC Wilkes-Barre has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served our nation. We consider it our privilege to serve your health care needs in any way we can. Services are available but not limited to Veterans living in 18 counties in Pennsylvania and one county in New York.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:  More than 25 volunteer assignments are
established in a variety of hospital service areas including
sections of Resources Management Support Services, Information
Management Support Services, Facilities Management Support
Services, Escort Service, Behavioral Sciences, Hospice, Nursing
Home Care Unit, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Primary Care,
Nursing, Nursing Food Production, Library, Clerical, etc.  Placement 
is dependent on days, hours, experience and available openings, 
as well as the acceptance of requesting services.

Group involvement is welcome with advance reservation.


TIME COMMITMENT:  To be arranged with Voluntary Services Officer,
predominant need for volunteers is weekdays between 8:00am and 4:30pm.
A minimum of 2 hours is required one day a week.

Volunteer training consists of personal orientation with
Voluntary Service Staff as well as supervised instruction by
hospital personnel. Clearances are required.
