Description
DESCRIPTION: In 4‑H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. Kids experience 4‑H in every county and parish in the country through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4‑H camps. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Volunteers can be trained, one on one, through workshops, or training sessions. 4-H can use college students' help in many ways: teaching a particular project for a club, starting up new clubs in surrounding areas, guest speakers at club meetings, publicity, organizing after-school clubs, school enrichment programs (introduce or conduct projects), and much more. TIME COMMITMENT: Flexible, varies according to volunteer schedule. Teaching projects require a minimum of five meetings at volunteer's time and convenience. Volunteer training and orientation is provided. Valid clearances required. *Within walking distance from the University of Scranton.
